Seven years ago, Elton Hope completed his education in engineering in his native South Africa. Now he is continuing his education: at the Uzwil company headquarters, the engineer is in training as a Project Manager in the Grain Processing Engineering Pool. Mr. Hope intends to utilize his professional skills to lend a meaningful contribution towards his country’s development. Elton Hope wasn’t actually looking for a new job. He spent seven years teaching Mechanical Engineering in South Africa, before a recruiting company introduced him to Buhler. Buhler’s international scope of activities was what inspired him to take the next step.

“I find it exciting to be professionally involved in different regions of South Africa”, says Mr. Hope. “The food industry is extremely important for South Africa. Through my job with Buhler, I am able to contribute to my country’s development”, he says with conviction. “Buhler is a market leader in Africa. The company also has huge potential in other countries, such as Zimbabwe or Zambia. Buhler responds to the needs of the market, adjusts to changes in the marketplace, and grows alongside with it”.

His work assignments give him a chance to get to know more countries than just his own. Currently, Mr. Hope is in training as a Project Manager at company headquarters in Uzwil, Switzerland. His training will take a year to complete. “This is a very important step for me”, says the 36 year-old. His goal for the future is to work as a Senior Project Manager at Buhler.
