The dire warning of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report from October 2018 made headlines across the world. There were, it said, just twelve years left to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5 C, and so avert a climate change disaster. This means that every government, industry and organization has a vital role to play.
Bühler is helping to boost climate protection with energy-efficient machines, vehicles and buildings, developed with the technologies and processes of our Advanced Materials business. We are working toward our goal of achieving a 50% reduction in water, energy, and waste at our customers’ sites.
According to the European Environment Agency, transport emissions will need to see a two-thirds fall by 2050 to meet greenhouse gas targets. Two key ways of achieving this are through lighter vehicles that use less energy and via e-mobility. Our technology is helping to lead the way in developing both.
Reducing energy use will be key to future food production. We have aligned our sustainability strategy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are permanently developing new processes and solutions to help cut energy use.
In the EU, buildings generate 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions. Bühler is at the forefront of new technologies to improve the energy efficiency of the buildings that make up our towns and cities.
Keeping climate change at bay and adapting to it are strategies that require technical innovation.

TUBO is a new transport system for grain and flour. The new E3 mill helps reduce energy consumption significantly.
The status quo is no longer an option. Be it transport, industrial processes or the built environment, many things we take for granted will need to be transformed to help climate protection.
