Bühler operates 24 regional Application & Training Centers for customers to experiment with recipes, conduct food processing trials, and explore advanced materials production - without interrupting their own operations. Six centers deploying state-of-the-art technologies underscore Bühler's dedication to innovation in alternative proteins across Singapore, Germany, and Switzerland.  Innovation hubs in Bangalore, Japan, China - cover food and flavor creation, energy, flour and rice milling, battery technology and advanced insect processing.

Some 1,800 international students have graduated from the Swiss School of Milling founded in 1957 by René Bühler, learning milling, maintenance, and automation from our advanced industrial mill. Bühler also sponsors specialty institutions including the Cocoa Innovation Competency Centre in Ivory Coast, boosting local cocoa processing capabilities; the International Rice Milling Academy in Bangalore covering the rice value chain; and the Swiss Institute of Feed Technology and African Milling School which further underscore our dedication to critical global education initiatives.

Established in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2014, the African Milling School addresses skills shortages across the Middle East and Africa and is open to employees of medium to large milling companies regardless of whether they are Bühler customers. Two-year milling apprenticeships allow students to apply their skills in a real-world setting, making expensive overseas training redundant. Inspired by our work, Kenya has since launched vocational training institutes nationwide, emphasizing a competence-based curriculum to tackle manufacturing skill shortages, an approach which is spreading across East Africa.
